GLÈISA DE SANT PÈIR

With a single barrel-vaulted nave, ending at its eastern end in a large apse and flanked to the west by a bell tower. The recent restoration of the building has made it possible to reconstruct its history through the order of construction, which mainly took place in two periods: the 12th and 13th centuries (foundations, walls, apse, baptismal font, Virgin of the Snows) and the 16th and 18th centuries (chapels, murals, carved sculptures, bell tower).

The Romanesque origins of the church of Sant Pèir can also be appreciated in the exterior decoration of the apse, in the configuration of the building’s floor plan and, most of all, in the 13th century baptismal font. Amongst its sculptures, that of the Virgin of the Snows is worthy of special note. Between the 16th and 18th centuries, the church was subjected to major alterations, evident in improvements to the nave, the consequent addition of the transverse arches and the construction of the side chapels. The murals date from between the 16th and 17th centuries. A final point of interest is the three religious sculptures in a Baroque style, made during the 18th century.
