ACCESIBILITY

The majestic natural landscape in which Vielha is set is accessible for visitors to enjoy whatever their level of fitness or ability. Whether in winter, summer, spring or autumn, Vielha and its surrounding areas offer a huge range of activities suitable for all ages and tastes, most of which are accessible to everyone.

In winter there are the many activities in which snow takes centre stage: you can enjoy the ski slopes at Baqueira Beret ski station, where professional ski monitors are at hand to guide you around the most beautiful parts of the resort, or take a ride on a dog sled or snowmobile. All these activities take you out into the purest mountain air.

You can also enjoy Vielha’s outstanding cultural heritage, principally made up of an ensemble of Romanesque churches of great beauty and architectural interest, as well as ethnographic museums and ancient folk traditions that have been passed on down to the present day.

From May until October, the different towns within Vielha hold their own festivals, each of them an excellent chance to get to know the character of the region and its people. During the summer, classical concerts are also held in many of Vielha’s churches.

Although it’s an option at almost any time of year, spring is when the ice thaws and the water flow of the Garonne river peaks, making this the ideal season to enjoy the fun and excitement of a whitewater rafting trip downriver, in the safest possible conditions with the professional guides who work with local companies.

And what better way to recharge your batteries than by visiting one of the area’s friendly restaurants, where you can enjoy the delicious traditional cuisine. From the classic “òlha aranesa”, a game stew, to one of many ways of serving duck. Whatever your choice, Aranese cuisine won’t disappoint.

Vielha can also boast a wide range of high-quality accommodation, with 100 % accessible hotels.

Take the plunge! Vielha has so much to offer!
