MUSEU DERA VAL D’ARAN

La Tor deth Generau Martinhon, a 17th-Century castle and stately home, is situated in Vielha’s old town, an area known as Cap dera Vila. Since 1984, this imposing building has been home to the valley’s most important museum and centre for historical research, the Museu dera Val d’Aran.

The museum is divided into two areas, one housing the museum’s permanent exhibition and the other administrative offices. The permanent exhibition presents an overview of the history of the valley, from prehistory to the present day. It is complemented by the museum’s ethnological collection, with objects that provide an insight into Aranese life over the centuries.
